South Cheshire Militaire is the premier universal model show, held on the last Sunday of each February in Crewe, Cheshire. The event
features a host of stands and activities; club and trade stands intermingle in the main hall, whilst the upstairs gallery hosts the open competition, and
a variety of other activities including radio control displays and demonstrations, artwork, wargaming and other modelling activites. All types of modellers are welcome to the show; keen enthusiasts, beginners, IPMS members, independent modellers, indeed anyone interested in any aspect of modelling. There's always something for everyone and makes an ideal day out, even for non-modellers.
The show is located at the Oakley Centre, West Street, Crewe, CW1 2PZ (opposite Asda). Sat nav users beware, this is often mapped as the location of the car park at Asda, the designated car park for the show (but see below for pricing). To get to the Oakley Centre, take the pedestrian crossing at the rear of Asda/George (down from, and to the right of the car park main entrance as you stand in the car park) and the Oakley Centre is in front of you to the right. See here for a map of the actual location.
Parking is available in the pay and display car park at the Asda superstore, opposite the Oakley Centre. Access to the show is via the pedestrian crossing across West Street. The cost is currently £0.50 on a Sunday, but please check here for up to date charges.
The show is open to the general public from 1000 to 1700. Competition entry closes at 1230.
Entrance to the show is £3.50 for adults, £1.50 for children under 16 years old and pensioners 65 years and older. Please check back nearer the date to confirm cost.
Our venue, the Oakley Centre (part of the Victoria Community Centre),
here in Crewe has full wheelchair access to both the main hall via a ramp and the upper gallery via a lift, access to the building is via the main doors on the left of the entrance. The aisles between the stands are wide enough to accomodate a wheelchair or a visitor using devices to aid mobility.
Typical catering facilities available on the day include hot breakfast and lunch from the servery, snacks and drinks from the vending machines and a licensed bar upstairs.
